SEBI – Change in UPI Limits (Public Issue of Debt Securities)

National Payment Corporation of India vide circular dated December 09, 2021, has enhanced the per transaction limit in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from INR 2 lakh to INR 5 lakh for UPI based Application Supported by Blocked Amount (ASBA) Initial Public Offer (IPO)

Given the above, based on discussions with market participants, in order to bring about uniformity in the requirements and for ease of investment for investors, Securities and Exchange Board of India vide Circular dated 8th March 2022, has decided to increase the investment limit for retail investors applying in public issues of debt securities through UPI from INR 2 lakh to INR 5 lakh. (Applicable for public issues of debt securities which open on or after 1 May 2022)
